I am Florian, 32 year old, from Germany. I'm travelling around the world since June 2011. This spring, I want to cross the pacific from Asia to America, preferably by cruise ship.

The best deal for this trip seems to be the Diamond Princess with an Inside Cabin currently at 1402$. The Diamond Princess will visit:

  • Beijing, China
  • Busan, South Korea
  • Vladivostok, Russia
  • Sapporo, Japan
  • Anchorage, Alaska
  • Vancouver, Canada

I am looking for a cruise-cabin room mate for this or a similar trip.

I can speak fluent English and have a university degree. If you want to learn more about me, you can visit my travel blog at http://www.flocblog.de/.

I'd love to join you, but I am headed in the other direction!

...if only it were going from Vancouver to Beijing, I'd be game.

Are you sure? What sensible person would go to Asia anyway?
You know, it's just too much fun here. By a long shot (-;

Anyway, for the trip from Vancouver to Beijing you have to wait until Sep 15.

Yeah - I saw that, after I posted a response. I would ideally like to leave in mid-July or so. I also researched to see if there are any other (affordable) ships leaving from the West Coast of USA/Canada/Mexico to (anywhere) in Asia - but haven't been able to find any.

What got you on the idea of the Princess cruise line? It seems more affordable than most.

I read about the affordable Princess Cruise in another forum. Can't remember which, unfortunately.
I can recommend vacationstogo.com for finding a cruiseship with route and price. It's still a pain in the ass for finding a transpacific cruise. I looked through all the Asia cruises longer than XX days...

Not sure a cruise (other than a repositioning one) would be bearable, especially for 19 days.

Putting up with the type of insufferable bores that frequent cruises is what I mean.

I see.
I never did a cruise, but I don't expect to fit in the crowd, there...
I'm going to have to put up with Hemmingway, Bukowski and Dawkins (-;

Sounds like a plan & it does seem a good price for the trip as long as you can find someone share the cabin.

Strange how you just listed my 3 favorite writers.

I'll be in Vancouver, seeing as I live here, but won't be joining you on your cruise.

Now...if your looking for someone to explore the jungles and towns of Nicaragua, I may be of assistance.

I wish I could take a cruise like that. Money's a little too tight for it though. And as has been pointed out, being on a ship for 19 days is difficult. I did a week-long cruise with relatives in Alaska...my cousins and I had to drink to keep entertained.

We are not cruising people but there are some times when this is the only option, we did the Galapagos this year for 7 nights and that was amazing we did meet some great people and had lots of laughs, it's a very casual cruise and people don't dress up which I hate. It was expensive and a once in a lifetime trip but I could recommend it.

The reason we don't cruise is you can be get seated for meals next to people you have nothing in common and day trips which can ruin your trip we have friends who this happened to.

The other thing is you need to take good clothes and dress up for dinner YUK not my sort of thing.
