Hi Everyone,

I'm a solo traveler that will be headed to guatemala from May 4th - May 15th 2009. Will anyone be in Guatemala City or up near Flores in that time period?

Threre should be a lot of people in Guate and along your route. Guate is a huge city and, except for jungles, the country has a large population. even in early May.

However, if you are really asking whether there will be people for you to easily meet, your best bet is to stay in hostels, both in Guate and Flores.

I am a solo traveler also and am currently looking to be there roughly around the same time. I"m hoping to meet up with other travelers too.

You'll find people in antigua, hundreds of them. Otherwise, there is a travel buddies section on this board. Do you have any concerns about your travels you can post here?

I have spend 2 summer in Guatemala. It would be easy to go for a Guatemala tour because the country has lots to offer. If you are a traveler who likes to be on the go and feel a strong need to visit the place.

Few places in the world are more popular with backpackers than Antigua. You'd have to be a complete social leper not to meet travel companions there, or Lake Atitlan, or Flores.

We recently returned from a three week road trip through Guatemala. There are lots of like minded travelers to befriend in Antigua, Panajachel, San Pedro la Laguna, Flores and Rio Dulce among other place. Even if you are not a "tour person", take at least one and you will be sure to find some cool people to hang around with. The Pacaya volcano tour is a good one.
