Jeanie could not agree more...
It is all relative to the situation...I think gloating about how little a person spent on a given trip is a little obnoxious...I think that the information can be useful to people inquiring about how much one can expect to spend on a trip, but even that is so varied based on a situation...
I used to stay in grimey hostels, eat the store brand supermarket food and cook my own meals when I did some extended trips and spent probably way less than I'm willing to spend now...Now im older, will stay in way nicer hotels 3-5 stars, eat at restaurants, visit more non-free museums and tourist attractions, take taxis vs taking a bus that will take me 3 times as long to get to a place just because it was cheaperetc...
There is definitely a fine line here, but to be quite honest, it's really easy to spend 15K in Europe in 6 months...partying it up, visiting sights, eating well, traveling the convenient way, staying in lower level hotels and nicer hostels...but ultimately, who cares?
On a completely random note: the frugal, bare bones cheap traveler, that would rather sit in his/her hostel all day instead of seeing the sights completely rubs me the wrong way...thats why i often traveled alone.

Quick question...Europe on 15k for 6 months is about $83/day. Is $83 a day really living it up in Europe?

It depends. Based on the countries visited (a wide variety all over the place, but more time in the more expensive west), I'd rate it as "average."
That much money would really let you live it up in a lot of European countries (my daily spend in Bulgaria was around $40/day, for example), but not if you're aiming to hit up France, Germany, Spain, Italy, etc.

your right 80something USD per day is not really "living it up." Even spending $3000 in a month spending time in london paris and parts of the UK really isn't living it that up either...thats about 100 USD per day...not that much for transportation, food, etc...
i take it back...
