So I assume there's a few of you on here who have a mild interest in traveling. I personally enjoy experiencing different cities. Prague, Budapest, Paris, forget the country side. Give me a city that's alive.
Last year I found a site that houses students in the middle of New York City for a summer for a very reasonable rate. http://www.nycintern.org When I say in the middle, I mean on the same block as the Empire State Building, across the street from Macy's, and 6 blocks from Times Square. The place puts you in rooms with 3-4 other people to help with the cost, and works great if you're traveling with friends.
From there you can hit all the sights. I started at the bottom of the island with the Statue of Liberty, Financial District, and Brooklyn Bridge and worked my way up from there. The possibilities are nearly endless, and if you like to explore (which I hope you all do) you'll never be get bored.
Anyhow that's my pitch on NYC. Great city, I highly recommend it. Living in the middle of it makes it much more enjoyable also since A) You're not too far from anything and B) It's a very safe section of town.
A cool way to experience NYC for a summer
