I know exactly how everybody feels about their job back home. I have just left the UK for my third vagabonding trip after traveling for 3 hours a day to get to London to work. Now I know it sucks but I just tried to think about it in a more positive way. I know that I was only working to save the money to travel, so my work was part of my travels! We all know we are going to have to work, to save, to do this, and if we didn't, the experience would be very much different. Your destination will always depend on how you got there. So working back home is as much a part of your travels as lying grinning insanely on some beach or mountain top in some far flung part of the world.
If anything, just look around you at the people your working with and feel really sorry for those guys, they are working to buy their next widescreen TV. The one they wouldn't need if they had the energy to do anything other than watch TV after their day at work! But hey this is all easy for me while I'm sitting in my friends New York apartment (a friend I met the first time I traveled in 98) knowing that after this wild week in New York I'm flying to Sydney! Sorry everyone, I'm feeling pretty happy with myself at the moment, and also.......I worked hard for this!

It great to hear of someone else leaving the corporate world to go travelling. I have had a similiar experience. I've done my best to focus on the positive aspect of my job, the money. I received a bit of an unique opportunity which was of great financial benefit. Despite the long hours, boring city and annoyingly antagonist and bureaucratic people it was worthwhile. My boss likes to highlight that the best paying jobs are the ones no one else wants to do. I'm leaving in 1.5 months for Sydney , and it will be the beginning of my 1 yr of travel..well at least one year , I'll see where the road takes me. Best of luck to you.
