A *nice* hostel in Alice Springs?

Postby Sohniye » October 30th, 2006

Hi guys,

Maybe I'm a slacker here but I just realised that I need to book one night at a hostel somewhere in Alice Springs, can anybody recommend a good one that is neither filthy or sketch?

I've read a couple of reviews at BUG and eeek I am kind of scared...

Thank You,

Samantha***

Sam,
Been a while since I've been Alice way and I tend to stick more with YHA/HI when using hostels not just because of being a member but with the odd exception they are usually pretty good.
A redirection to old BUG site that didn't fire up would not allow me to read reviews but Annies works in conjunction with www.mulgas.com for trips to Uluru and though Mulgas are at the budget end of trips, have still heard well of them, and notice that Annies have reasonable pricing too for airconditioned rooms - good this time of year and also get yourself a beoad brim hat - Australian Geographic Stores have a nifty collapsible travellers one, and get a fly net to hang off a brim.
It's going to be warm!

I've heard good things about Annie's too. I've also heard that Toddy's was pretty cool. I stayed in Melanka's when I was there and wasn't too impressed with it. I came from an Adventure Tour and that's where they booked us. Some people actually left there and booked into Annies because they weren't happy with it. (I don't think it was that bad but if you are really picky or a germaphobe then go somewhere else) Actually I wasn't impressed with Alice Springs at all and I think that 1 night is all you need.
