Hello all! My girl friend and I want to get away for three weeks in October. We possibly want to go to Central America. We have never been to the region. Our focus is Diving. learning to surf and cultural and ecological exploration. I have been looking hard at Panama but it looks like October may not be the best time of year to go. Has any one been in Panama this time of year? Has any one gone diving there?

Im not married to Panama an tips or advice to point me in the right direction and help me plot a sweet trip would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!!

Cheers

In October, you have a very good chance of spotting whale sharks around Utila and Roatan, off the north coast of Honduras. Honduras is in tough shape these days, although the Bay Islands have been spared the violence that has overrun the mainland. You can fly in and out of Roatan internationally. There are ferries and flights to both islands from La Ceiba, which has an international airport, or you can fly to either from San Pedro Sula, which also has an international airport. Utila has some of the cheapest diving in the Western Hemisphere, on the world's second-biggest barrier reef.
