Advice Please On A Traveler's Retreat Center in Bulgaria
I've just opened a place in an old house in Bulgaria and for this autumn I've invited various teachers to come and run workshops each week.
It's a non-profit project run on a donation basis and this is how it looks so far:
What I would like to hear from you is what would you want from such a place? Should it be a place for workshops and courses? Or more like an artist collective to work on projects together? What would you hope to find there? What would you want to bring to such a place?
For now the schedule is:
Augst 26 - Tai Chi and Theatre
September 2 - Tai Chi and Theatre
September 9 - Drawing and Juggling
September 16 - Dance Expression
September 23- Free Your Voice! (singing)
September 30 - Aikido
October 7 - Philosophy and Hiking
October 14 - How t Eat From the Forest
October 21 - How to Eat From the Forest
and then it will close for the winter. I might even open it next year in Greece instead to be closer to the sea - would that be more appealing than a forest house in Bulgaria?
Thanks for your thoughts and advice, it's a big project and I could do with some feedback!
I'd love to find somewhere like this when I was travelling round, but might struggle to commit to a set arrival date or length of stay, especially if it was part of a larger trip.
Can people come just to stay for a few days or do they have to be partaking in one of the week long courses?
Assuming people can stay without doing a course, perhaps a schedule of regular 1-2 day courses that didn't need to be booked in advance might be good.
The actual range of courses on the programme at the moment looks quite nice - a bit different to the ubiquitous yoga and meditation most places offer (not that these are bad, just an alternative is nice too)
It looks like you're in quite a rural area, how about something to do with local (small scale, organic?) agricultural techniques or, seeing as you have a pizza oven mentioned, local cooking?
Good luck with your project, I think it has potential to be amazing.
