I wanted to see if anyone knew if there are places to stay in France (Paris and the south) that are decent (not fancy but nice enough, in decent locations and less than $100/night. I'm am about to buy our tickets and just want to make sure we'll be able to actually afford the trip!
Any info is appreciated!
Affordable Hotels in France?

Hi Vicki,
While hotels in Paris do tend to be on the pricey side, there are a handful of decent hotels that are actually affordable in the City of Lights. One that I always recommend to people traveling to Paris is the Hotel du Bresil (http://www.bresil-paris-hotel.com/english-France-Hotel-Bresil/Hotel01-Hotel-Bresil.htm). This hotel has a GREAT location in the heart of the Latin Quarter. It's super close to Ile de la Cite (Notre Dame), the pantheon and the marais (very cute shopping area with tons of great restaurants). The rooms aren't fancy, but they are clean and super comfortable and rates are only 69-100 euros per month.
If you are going to be exploring the south of France or the country side I would highly recommend checking out chambre d'hotes and gites, which are kind of a mixture of guest houses and bed and breakfasts. Not only are many of these places super affordable, they are often much more comfortable than a hotel. Plus, you get to interact with a French family and you get a lovely breakfast to boot.
You can check out more hotel listings and reviews for france here. Take a peak at the France Travel Guide or the Paris Travel Guide.
Bon Voyage!

Thank you so much for the great info, I really appreciate it! I am used to backpacking and staying in supercheap places, so finding hotels ahead of time is not something I usually do. This trip is for our 1 year wedding anniversary so this really helps.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I just traveled to a bunch of cities in France (Nancy, Reims, Dijon, Avignon etc)
All the cities had central and decent 2 star hotels for around 40-50 euros a night, and that includes a shower and toilet in the room. This was during the off season, I'd say it will jump up around 10 euros or so for the tourist season.
You can get much cheaper rooms in the hotels if you get a room sans douche (without a shower) and use the shared ones.
hope that helps
