Apologies that this has probably been asked before, but I can't quite work it out.

For the Australian WHV (for Brits, at least) the official website states
- you must be between 18-30 when you apply (ie, you can apply up to the day before your 31st birthday)
- the visa means you can enter the country up to 12 months after it is issued

So, am I right in saying that you can apply when you are say, 30 and 11 months, and not enter Australia to start the 12-month WHV period until you are 31 and 11 months? This is what I understand from the official website?

The NZ website seems less clear.....is it the same though?

Thanks in advance!

Well, if you mine, I think you need to go in this site http://www.principalvisas.com and find more details about that visa.

I had the same question for the NZ WHV. I was 30 when I applied but went there when I was still 30.

But they said that once you're approved, you can be 31 when you finally arrive.

Have fun!

Awesome, I'm just turning 28 in a few weeks so have a few years left.....I'm sketching out the next few years work/travelling, hope I can get to both Oz and NZ in 18-24 months time or so. Cheers guys!

i came to same conclusion but just to add to the confusion you can apply for a WHV through Bunac for New Zealand up to 35 - its not called a WHV but its essentially the same thing
