America's Worst Airline is...?

I like Alitalia. Every time I've flown with them has been good experiences. They've let me carry way too much luggage without charging and use the first class lounges even when I had an economy-ticket (I had a stop-over in Rome, was sunburnt, tired and shabbylooking after backpacking in Africa. They probably felt sorry for me). I've always had happy, cheerful flight attendants, even singing flight attendants on long-haul flights.

On the subject of worst airlines, I'll cast another vote for USAir - a sad, sad flying experience.

Biman is my choice. I know, I know, it almost should fall under common sense and not even be included with the worst airlines from the rest of the world. But here's my favorite part of the article: "Biman, bailed out by a government loan last year, said in December it planned to lease four aircraft so it could reintroduce some routes it had to cut for lack of airworthy planes. Biman stopped flights to New York, Paris, Tokyo, Frankfurt and Brussels last year due to aircraft shortages.

It has been flying to 21 destinations with a fleet of 13 aircraft, although two of had been grounded awaiting repairs."

21 destinations with 11 active aircraft?!?! Cracking Up

Now I decided to put this mad face (Mad)whenever I mention USAirMad

So many of you agree with me that USAirMad is THE worst airline in US.

Northwest is quite crappy too. Even their Business Class sucks!

Alitalia: I specifically did not buy tickets to Tunisia this winter because of the horror stories on this thread. Thanks all! Smile It was the cheapest way to go, but my sanity is worth the extra price.

I've a good friend whose wife's parents live on a small island in The Bahama's. They refer to Bahama's airlines as "God's Airline...because only god knows when it will fly". I was subjected to that hell once...three days with no luggage.

Alitaliais by far the WORST! I was in Air Hell when I took them to Cairo Mad! It's like the madness would NEVER end! They ran out of Wine (I couldn't drown my sorrows), food, and the seats were dirty and HARD! & I really think the flight attendants must of had it out for some of the passengers

White FlagI kinda like USAirways/America West. They are sometimes the only airline where I can get low priced last minute tickets in and to the West coast. Plus I find you get very few delays with Phoenix being a hub..

Southwest rocks for dependable, cheap regional flights. Don't expect luxury and just get where you are going.

Lufthansa rocks also

would like to add that Mesa Airlines is probably the worst in the US. You;re lucky if your flight departs or is on time (regional carrier that operates under US, United and Delta).

I used to fly with Northwest Orient before they changed to Northwest. I stop flying with them for the same reasons posted in this tread. United is a better one and have been flying with them for the past ten over years to the states for its excellent domestic connection. Alaska Airline ( still there?) is another better one with charming and talkative cabin crew.
On the whole, Asian airlines are much superior than those of the American's in terms of service, foods, entertainment and equipments ( planes are newer). My favorite airlines are All Nippon Airline and Japan Airline. Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific and her subsidiary, Dragon Air, are some great airlines to fly with.

Another vote for Northwest. Southwest made me good and mad last time too though.

Worst ever was Avianca in Colombia when I was sold a ticket for a flight that didn't exist and my mother ended up stranded in the Quito airport on her first ever real travel experience as a result. Ever lost your untravel-savvy mother in a foreign country? Had to demand a compensation ticket which couldn't be redeemed when I tried despite assurances that I'd be able to use it. I swore. I really swore at the agent, which I never ever do to customer service people. But, not US and they had to reorganize shortly thereafter.

I look forward to Asian airlines, which I've heard are far cozier experiences than American ones.

i vote for US Airway. Don't fly that much, but one time with them was enough.

Northwest really sucks...I just flew them back and forth to the bna holiday party...I was so cramped...eventually on my way back the dude in the middle left for an aisle seat but that was the most uncomfortable 3 hours of my life...he dominated the entire row basially...

Northwest seats are the worst, service this time wasn't bad...but they are cheap

Well...wait until you are on the same seat....but fly 14 hours from Detroit to Tokyo! Mmm...that is something I will do next year, I still need to fly my return flight to the US on Northwest.
