I have been looking at the online reviews of silk sleep sacks for our RTW trip, and the reviews are all over the place. Does anyone have a recommendation for a quality sleep sack?

We have used one of these

http://www.nznature.co.nz/product/silk- ... -bag-liner

With two people in it (double), the side seams ripped a bit. Fixable, but disappointing.

These look nice: http://www.jagbags.co.nz/products.htm

Sierra Sleeping Bag is really in good quality, but I'm not sure whether you can afford it,a little expensive. :)

I brought a sleeping liner but it has ended being completely useless outside of Africa... I am surprised that the hostels have all been amazingly clean... Of course, maybe this is just my perception after spending 4 months in Africa... What has been helpful was a light, thin wool blanket I picked up in Tanzania for just a few dollars... I have carried this blanket everywhere and I have used this countless times in 3 continents so far... Yes, I shopped around for the necessary "sleep liner" as it was on all of the recommendation lists... I just didn't really like the one I ended up getting even though it had great reviews.... I felt too claustrophobic in it.... Sorry, I know this isn't helpful... :-(

Our sleep sack is one of the best purchases we made for our RTW. Curiously, many hostels/guesthouses in SE Asia don't provide a top sheet. It sure has come in handy as well, when staying in grungy places.

It is very lightweight, washable (the dry really fast) and takes up very little space.

Depending on where you are going you may be able to get one custom made as well. I found my silk liner not quite up to my liking so I had one made in India and had them adapt it to my requirements (longer, thicker silk, reinforced stitching in certain areas, etc)

I'm with RTW, I don't know how I ever survived without a sleep sack. It's a must have for any serious travel, imo. A custom one would be cool, I'll have to look into that halfnine. Otherwise you can get one at www.erento.co.uk. Good luck!
