Figure out the best place to stay on Khao San Road in Bangkok and where to escape when you've had enough of the mayhem. From Singapore Slings to the changes in Bejing after the 2008 Olympics, gab about it all here.

Anywhere good to go in Krabi?

Is it better to stay in Krabi Town or in Ao Nang?
I'd have to get there from Koh Phi Phi, which I believe has ferries running to both destinations.

I would goto Krabi town, there's not much there but its good for transport links to the rest of Thailand.

Ao nang is package tourist heaven so unless you like that sort of thing then I would stear clear of there.

Cool.
Any ideas on how to get to Phuket airport from Krabi?
I don't think there's a direct bus so that would mean gong via Phuket town plus all the traffic and waiting.
I'm a bit nervous of private minibuses after all the stuff I've read and heard off fellow travellers being robbed.

I've spent a fair bit of time in Thailand over the years and I've never heard of any fellow travelers getting robbed on minibuses or anywhere else for that matter. The Thais just aren't like that. You have nothing to worry about.

yeah nothing to worry about.

But just don't go back to Phuket, I'd read another one of your post and think you were talking about flying to K. Samuai.

Dude take the bus to S.T. and then ferry, way easier and much more fun.

No question.

I just spoke to 2 people the other day who had their bags rummaged through on the minibus and stuff nicked. They tried to come on board the main bus and rummage about in hand luggage until someone woke up.
I've read plenty about the private minibuses...
Elsewhere, yeah of course, everyone's friendly...

I would say also you have nothing to worry about with private mini buses. I have travelled around Thailand and the rest of asia a lot and usually get private mini buses or coaches.
I have never had a problem with things being stolen. As long as your sensible with your belongings whats the worst they are going to get - dirty clothes.
