I am seeking a travel buddy for Argentina (and maybe Chile) for 2-3 weeks around Nov./Dec. I know Spanish (B.A.) and am an experienced traveler. This will be my 3rd trip to Argentina. I would appreciate timely responses as I would like to firm things up soon.
I am flexible about destinations, but places under consideration include:
--Buenos Aires (plenty will be going on);
--Tierra del Fuego (maybe a Stella Australis boat trip between Punta Arenas in Chile and Ushuaia in Argentina that goes around Cape Horn);
--Puerto Madryn or nearby Bahía Bustamente in Patagonia (penguin and wildlife havens);
--Iguazú Waterfalls or Esteros de Íbera wetlands in the northeast;
--Salta in the northwest and nearby areas in the high Andes, such as the Salinas Grandes Salta flats, Cono de Arita at the Salar de Arizaro salt flats, Purmamarca and the HIll of 7 Colors, Humahuaca, etc.;
--El Calafate and its glaciers, if a travel mate wants to go there.
FYI, places I have previously visited in Argentina include: Buenos Aires (and Tigre); In Misiones province, Iguazú Waterfalls, Posadas, San Ignacio Mini Jesuit ruins, the Wanda Mines, the Che Guevara house; and in Patagonia, El Calafate including glacier trekking, the "All Glaciers" tour, horseback riding at Lago Roca and 4-Wheel drive excursion into the nearby hills/mountains. In Uruguay, I have visited Montevideo and Punta del Este.
My travel style is mostly independent, but I usually incorporate organized excursions when it works best. I can go super cheap on some things, but splurge on others if I think it is worth it. Example: At the Iguazú Waterfalls, I stayed at a very inexpensive hostel (that had good reviews), but splurged a bit on the full moon walk at the Falls and the daytime helicopter ride over the Brazilian side of the Falls. Another example is that in Buenos Aires, I prefer to rent an apartment rather than stay in a hotel or hostel as I feel much more part of the environment and the cost is excellent.

Argentina & Chile (Maybe), Nov./Dec., 2011 (2-3 Weeks)
Los Angeles Sunshine
Hi!
I'm a female young professional who has traveled pretty extensiveness in the past few years. I've covered most of Asia, North Africa, Europe, and a little bit of the middle east but I have not done too much of South America other than Peru. I saw your post and thought the timing might work if you wanna join me for my cruise? I'm looking for a cruise buddy to share the cost of the cabin (which will be about $1570ish including taxes) which will cover lodging, transportation from port to port, and most meals. Its the Celebrity "Infinity" (12/18/11-1/2/12 for 15 days) if you want to look it up on any travel website that sells cruises.
Here's the map of the itinerary:

The Cruise will stop at the following ports:
Santiago, Chile
Puerto Montt, Chile,
cruising through the chilean fjords,
strait of magellan,
Punta Arenas, Chile,
Ushuaia, Argentina
Cape Horn (cruising)
Puerto Madryn, Argentina,
Montevideo, Uruguay
Punta del Este, Uruguay,
and stopping at Buenos Aires Argentina.
Let me know if this itinerary looks interesting to you!
Thanks!
