Back in '02 while traveling through Tuscany, we stopped in Cortona (to try and recreate "Under the Tuscan Sun" . . . ;-) ) and had lunch at
Osteria del Teatro.

I don't remember all the specific details but do remember the homemade pasta with shaved black truffles. That is all you really need to know!!

AMAZING!!!

Oh yeah .. . one more from Tuscany.

While in Montalcino during the Festival of the Thrush in October 2002, we had a Buresta Sandwich. To be honest, not even sure how to spell it.

It took us years and years to figure out what it was and FINALLY when at one of our favorite Italian restaurants in NYC, we asked the owner who was from Milan and he said it was wild boar. It was soo good we had to take pictures. We topped that off with the most amazing '95 Brunello de Montalcino (for $5.00 a glass).

One of the best meals we had during our 2 week stay in Italy.

It's a draw between:

An all-veg thali at a friend's Hindu wedding in Chennai, India that was ladled out of buckets onto banana leaves from a line of guys

Meat & veg thali served to me and my friends on our backwater boat cruise in Kerala, India.

I obviously like thali!
