Best months for Peru?

Figure out the best way to get from Central to South America, when you should book your accommodations for Carnaval and local language school recommendations. If it's on South America, it's in this forum.

Best months for Peru?

Postby jon m » February 28th, 2009

Hello all I would like to spend a couple weeks in Peru soon. I am think if going either in: May June July or August, so I would like to know from your experience what these months are like, in terms of weather and tourists etc. I don't plan on doing any camping, just typical tourist stuff. If these are bad months I may go somewhere else.

Thanks for any info!

i've only been down there in the last two weeks of June and that is right at the peak of the IntiRaymi season, but since we were on a trek for the heighth of the festival, we didn't experience any crowded conditions, if there are any, but i would say that the weather couldn't have been better. We were in Cuzco, then Cachora, Choquequerao, Maizal, Yanama, Totora, then Aguas Calientes/Machu Pichu, then Ollantaytambo, had no rain and the days were sunny every day, with few clouds.

But weather is weather, everybody talks about it

Well, I agree with the first reply... don't go in June. There are lots of tourists because of the Inti Raymi. I think July could be a good month becuse of the weather. It's not rainy. I know tourist usually take their vacations between July/August to travel, but if you have all your trip arranged before you go to Peru, then I don't see the problem

When I went to Cusco I took an amazing tour in the city and Sacred Valley. And of course Machu Picchu which was breathtaking. Check tours with travel agencies. I took mine with Intense Peru. Don't wait till you get there to book everything it would be hassle specially to book the train to MachuPicchu and all that because all tourists want to go there of course.
Anyway, I know you will enjoy your trip!

What would your suggestions be about going to Chile, Boliva and Peru in October?
