Here is a link to a list of the most expensive cities to live in.
http://www.citymayors.com/features/cost_survey.html
What I don't understand is how Hanoi can be more expensive than Stockholm, I've have been both places and Stockholm is about 10 times more expensive.?

Well it's a start. Build it and they will come?
Perhaps you can PM some BnAers en masse whom you know have thorough knowledge of certain cities in Asia + Africa?

cib: we are halfway there now (to 25). i gotta start on the spreadsheep soon...maybe today. it'll be easier to do if everyone does in spreadsheet but it might be best if we post individual cities results so people can comment.
michey_b: booked!
seraphim: booked! we feel no need for capital cities. but i do think they should be big enough to accomidate our basket.

Is it bad that I have no idea what this thread is about?

If you're really desperate for Asia, you count the Middle East as Asia (since there's no Middle East section in this index), and you want a Gulf city, I can of course do Doha. But really ... why would anyone want to come to Doha?
Looking forward, three other Gulf cities I'll be in between December '06 and February '07 are Dubai, Muscat (Oman) and Sana (Yemen), figuring to spend more time in the latter two than the former. After that (March-May '07) I'll be in North Africa, so I might be able to do cities like Cairo and/or Marrakesh if no one else has done them by then.

I didn't volunteer initially because I thought you wanted world cities (hence the name.. BNA World City Cost Index...) but it looks like you're not getting too many places particularly for Asia so I volunteer to make a cost index for the capital city of Sarawak, on Malaysian Borneo.
It is only the nicest city in Borneo, no lie! with a population of half a million.
With a few adjustments, its cost index could also reflect Kuala Lumpur although a native from KL would be able to vouch for that.
