Botswana & Kalahari by rental car

Postby seanie blue » July 7th, 2006

Has anyone had any experience with BRITZ or other car rental agencies in Bagorone or Botswana? Specifically interested in self-drive rentals.

Six years ago I rented from Britz in Johannesburg, drove into the Kalahari and Okavongo, then to Namibia, then to the Fish River Canyon and back to Joburg. Fabulous photo/video safari, and I'd like to do it again with more concentration on the photo/video work.

But couldn't I get a vehicle (camper SUV) in Botswana or should I still be thinking about the Joburg start and end?

I think you probably mean Gaborone I have not seen a Britz outlet in Botswana so my suspicion is that there isn't one. There are plenty of Avis outlets but I am not sure if they do all the camping equipment roof top tents etc. So my advice is to book it from Joburg. This will make your flight cheaper anyway as flying to gabs is much more costly. If you need any more advice about Botswana just give me a shout.
