I will travel from Cape Town overland to Kenya later this month. I will pass by many countries where malaria may be present. I just wonder, since South Africa is my first country in Africa and it is relatively developed, CAN I get anti-malarial pills in local pharmacies without prescription? Especially in Cape Town (( may or may not stop in Johannesburg)?

I am currently in the US now (though I am from Taiwan), where I do not have health insurance. Though there are numerous travel clinics in the US where good service is offered. However, they are extremely expenisve (even in European standard). One visit alone may cost $100 and prescription drugs may add another few hundred dollars Frown . I have already had yellow fever and other vaccinations, so I think malaria is my main concern...

Thanks for your help!! Smile
