Can my friend (living in Europe) use a Eurail pass?

We're both Australians and I know I can buy a pass in her name here but she arrived in Europe on the 8th of February. We are planning to use a Global Flexipass starting on the 29th of July. She'll only be in Europe for 6 months on the 8th of August so isn't eligible for the Interrail pass but would she be able to continue using the Eurail pass after the 8th of August if she starts using it on the 29th of July? And if so, is this something ticket inspectors would be aware of?

The time limit on the Eurail pass only becomes active after the first time you use it. So if your friend does not use her pass until August 8th then that is when the pass is activated. As long as the activation date is within 6 months of the purchase date. That is the only thing you have to be aware of. As a non-European you can also buy Eurail passes (from here) while you're in Europe and have them shipped to you (as long as you have an address - like a hostel or friend - so you can pick them up).
