Cats around the world

Postby Haci Richard » February 24th, 2007

I can't help it. Wherever I go, I end up with pictures of cats -- street cats, pets, etc. Does anyone else have this problem?

Here's one of my favorite cat photos, from Sousse, Tunisia:

Very cute! I have one that I took of a black cat sitting in a back alley in Hania, Crete, but unfortunately, it was back in the days of non-digital cameras and I haven't gotten around to scanning those photos (and probably never will). Smile

Kitties of Recoleta Cemetary - Buenos Aires

Great topic!! I LOVE kitties!! Smile

This one joined me for my first dinner in Oia, Santorini, on a patio

And the next two were on Mykonos in Greece

And in good ole Minnesota, at the landscape arboretum; unfortunately this kitten was already too wild by this point, so I couldn't get close enough to grab him and take him to the humane society

And if any of the powers that be on BNA would like to take a stab at resizing my images, please go ahead - sorry they're so big

Yes, we have a thing for cats, too.

Trying to tempt one out at Kitchener Island, in Aswan, Egypt.

Kittens in our hotel in Amman, Jordan.

The least social of the cats we've met.this one at the Dadia Nature Reserve in Greece was just one of a large family, all of whom would come close enough to beg for food, but would never let you touch them.

And we had to take a picture of this one, because it looks and sounds a lot like one of Kathy's parents' cats. (Brasov, Romania)

One chill cat at the organic farm on Lamma Island, Hong Kong. Once you sit down, he/she would come over and demand attention.

Oooh, I love this thread. I (heart) cats. Smile

This little guy was in Trogir, Croatia - the night before I took this picture, he'd scared the bejeezus out of me by dashing out from under a bench in the dark. I thought it was a rat and nearly shrieked. In the light of day, though, he was a cutie.

This one was in Asolo, Italy.

I've got a few others from Vernazza, Italy, but they're not digital. One was of a big guy the husband nicknamed "Il Re" (the king) because he sat outside the fish seller's shop and wouldn't let any other cats near the door; then when the shop opened, he'd go in and sit at the feet of the guy cleaning the fish. He got lots of scraps. If you're going to be a stray cat, that's the way to live.

This guy was one of the denizens of El Barco de Oro in Las Penitas, Nicaragua. He was an incredibly tolerant beast, putting up with all sorts of mistreatment from the kids that stayed there.

Here's a cat who is "resting his eyes" while guarding a family of chickens at Camping Nelson on Moorea (right next to Tahiti).
