Central and South America (Aug.-Sept.)

Experienced traveler heading down to South America overland. I don't have a fixed itinerary as I'm not flying down there. I'm starting in northern Mexico and making my way south through the copper canyon, and going to make a visit to my relatives in central mexico and then want to head south through the carribean coast of central america. Looking to catch a lift on a sail boat from panama to colombia and then it's new territory for me (I have been to central america before). Would like to head down the andes and dip into the amazon in ecuador and make my way down the rio napo(?) into Peru. From there, I'll see how I feel. I'm planning to leave around late summer/early fall. If anybody happens to be in the general area around that time, would like to have a buddy to do a hike or 2 with or even just a beer at a bar send me a pm and let's see if we happen to be in the same area around the same time.
