Change the Appearance of Your BootsnAll Blog
Donovan
You can change the appearance of your blog under the 'themes' tab? We have a number of templates to choose from. You can choose pictures of the mountain, temples, cities and a variety of other worldly destinations.Under 'themes' you can view and select the image you like the best! There is an extended 'choose themes' option at the bottom of the page from WordPress, which provides an additional 5 or so options.

Is it also possible to change typeface?
Hydro
The Paris Logue is a special case and it would be possible to change the font of parts of it. What font did you have in mind? Bearing in mind there is a limited selection of web safe fonts to choose from.

I am trying to get rid of the "What your blog is about" section. I had wrote something and now changed my mind and decided I don't want it and now I can't figure out how to get rid of it. Thanks.
Hydro
VictoriaLove, you can uncheck a box on this page to remove that from your blog home page.

My BnA-blog has heaps of empty space on both sides. Is it possible to change the appearance of the blog so it covers the whole screen?
Hydro
Hi Sophie,
We originally designed these blog templates for screens with smaller resolutions. Now that most people seem to have bigger resolutions we're designing a new set of templates that take advantage of available screen space. We'll let all bloggers know when they are available.

How's the work with the new templates coming along? And - will it be possible to have sidebars and a bit more flexibility?

We're still working on them, mate. We need to upgrade the blog software first and we want to be super careful with that so no one even notices it's been done until the dashboard changes to the new fancy design

Two blog appearance questions:
- Often, when I'm not online, I write blog entries in a word document, then cut and paste to the blog later. I've done that on all my blog entries lately, always using my "standard" Times New Roman font 13 in the word document. But every once in a while the font size on the blog turns out very small - like my last entry - http://blogs.bootsnall.com/Anne-Sophie/ - and also an entry on 8 April (about Umm al Quwain). It seems I have must have done something different with those two blog posts than all the others, but if so I have no idea what - and what's worse: I haven't been able to find out how to change it to a more readable size. Is there a way I just haven't figured out, perhaps?
- Another thing, sometimes when I use bullet points in a blog post, these show up as expected when I open the post in question, but when I look at the post from the front page, the bullets have mysteriously disappeared and it all looks a bit weird. (11 May post - entitled What to do on a Friday ...)
Help!

The font issue is due to the blog's rich text editor. The blog has a default font type & size but when you copy from a Word document, it tries to duplicate that formatting and it's not very good at it. I've turned off that editor on your blog so all your future entries should have the uniform default font of the blog. You can go into those other entries and remove the formatting if you like.
When I look at the May 11th post, I see little arrows denoting the bullet points in Firefox and in IE I see bullet points. Do you not see those? If not, what browser are you using so I can try to duplicate it.

Oddly no. I use Internet Explorer - at work and at home, and on both computers it appears as irregular indentations, without any bullets or arrows. (when viewed from the front page of the blog, as I said. When I open the particular post, it looks fine, bullet points and all.)
Thanks for fixing the formatting problem for future entries. How do I change the format on the two entries?

To change the format on those entries, log in to edit them. You should see some font tags around your paragraphs that look something like this:
Remove those font tags wherever you see them and save your entry.
- Code: Select all
<font="Times New Roman">Your text</font>
Remove those font tags wherever you see them and save your entry.

That was fast! Thanks!

Any update on the new themes?
I'm about to start a new trip and will move my blog if there is no change to the BnA blogs. I'll have my one 3 years in January and I've had the same few themes the whole time. I want it to look better, but would hate to leave BnA.
Any chance of a bit more customisation?
