Are there any cheap airlines that fly from the US to Central America? In Europe, EasyJet and RyanAir fly all over for cheap, is there anything similar for the US to Central America? Thanks!

In the winter, your best bet is a charter flight, often listed in the Sunday travel section of local newspapers in northern US cities. On charters, you can sometimes find deals into lesser-used airports like Belize City, Liberia (Costa Rica), Flores (Guatemala), or Roatan (Honduras). For regular flights, Continental probably has more flights to CA than any other US-based airline - keep an eye on their website for deals. Guatemala City and Panama City are CA's busiest airports. You can often find reasonable fares into San Salvador and San Pedro Sula and San Jose too.

If you have ample time, and are planning on visiting Belize and/or Guatemala, consider flying into Cancun, Mexico, which is the easiest and busiest gateway airport in Mesoamerica.

MercutioMike-
The cheapest airline that I've found for flights from the US to Central America is Spirit Airlines. I just got a flight (one-way) from Boston to Managua, Nicaragua for $159 total. I've only flown into/out of Managua with Spirit Airlines, the one downside I have found is that their flights arrive/leave Managua at 1am...I'm not sure if this is true for all countries. Continental also has a number of routes to Central America, last year round trip Boston to Managua was around $400.
Hope this helps!

I also recommend Spirit Airlines. They are always having specials to Central America. We have used them a lot, and they are no worse than any of the others.
