Ok so this isn't me, it is an oceanic white tip shark.

But it is me on the other end of the camera!

What great pic's!! I feel like I am right there with all of you! Being a newbie to the site, the first thing did was put in "Everest" in the search function, and am in awe of all these great images. I heard about the tragedy in the icefall, very saddening. Does anyone know who made the summit first this year and if the U.S. made a summit bid?
Thanks to all you guys who post your pictures and do what I can only dream of doing.

Sincerely,
Matt G.

OK, you asked for it...

I'm in the middle of a RTW right now. Here are some of the highlights (plus a South Sister pic for Donovan and the rest of us Oregonians):

Me and some friends at the summit of the South Sister in Aug 2005

Building a house with Habitat for Humanity in Manakau, New Zealand

Whitewater rafting near Rotorua, New Zealand

At Cape Reinga, Northern-most tip of NZ

Hiking the Coastal Track, Abel Tasman Nat'l Park, NZ

Bungy Jumping in Queenstown, NZ

Oyster eating contest in Bluff, NZ

Canopy walk in Mt. Kinabalu Nat'l Park, Borneo Malaysia

Summit of Mt. Kinabablu, Borneo Malaysia

Parasailing and snorkeling at Manukan Island, Borneo Malaysia

That's all for now, I'll clutter up the thread again in a few weeks. Smile

This is me in Band-e Amir, Afghanistan last year. You can't see me very well, but I'm in the middle grabing my feet (with my clothes on, gotta be respectful).

Trying to sort out this picture thing, haven't posted pic's on here before...

Yes! It worked!

That's me (on the right) at Concordia camp, K-2 is in the back ground. Went to base camp the next day, but pic's aren't great.

K-2 her bad self...

Cool glacier... That was at the memorial to those who died in K-2's arm's, 15 minutes from base camp.

We were almost to the top of Gondogoro La (5,913 meters) at that point. What a day, 12 hours and a mean surprise for me that night...

Me somewhere near the top. Can you tell I was trying to blend in with the locals...

They broke (again) the day before, I ended up going snow blind for the next three days. It tuns out one of our porters had an extra pair, but... it was all part of K-2's master plan...

Ouch. The goggles, they do nothing! Is your ambition now to someday climb on K2?

Yep, the photogs on that trip were great, and they even suggested we buy only one DVD and make copies, so it only cost us $10 each. Sweet deal. If you want to see all the pics (including us upside down at the bottom of that fall), I put together a slide show which you can view here:

I don't have anywhere neer the skillz to do that. Plus, I've felt what it was like for K-2 to give me a finger flick, I can only imagin what it would be like to try to climb her with out her permision! She definitely dosn't like me! She won, she won...
