china help. . .

Figure out the best place to stay on Khao San Road in Bangkok and where to escape when you've had enough of the mayhem. From Singapore Slings to the changes in Bejing after the 2008 Olympics, gab about it all here.

Unfortunately I'm pretty sure it's already started, can't give you a link to that though.

Hi,
Yes, I think you are thinking about the Yangtze River Three Gorges. The Dam has been built, and the project is in the third (and final) stage. The water level in the Yangtze will be raised by a total of 175 meters, it has already been flooded 135m, and there's 40m more to go.
We went there last summer with the family. My dad was set to go before "it's too late"
One thing we learned is that the higher water levels have made other areas of the tributaries accesible, and some of that scenery is just as beautiful as the original Three Gorges, so even after 2009, I think it would still be nice to visit. We have posted some pictures and videos on our website
Our Yangtze River Cruise
that might give you and idea of what it looks like now and what it might look like in the future. Hope this helps!

I'd like to know what's in store for travelers, too. can you take a boat across the river or something like that?
