Cost of Living Chart for Bali, Indonesia

Postby krissz » March 17th, 2008

Bali is a beautiful place on our planet, you can survive pretty well on a very small budget. The Cost of Living here is dramatically lower than in the US, old Europe or even other parts in Asia. Living in Bali for the past 18 months and to put that in a better perspective; I compiled a spreadsheet with day-2-day items and put some real life prices behind it.

For those interested, you can check it out here :

Please feel free to add your favorite items via the comment form. For curious people and arm-chair Expats around the world, if there are any special requests, I will try to add those as well.

Cheers,
Chris

Yep, that's about right.

But keep in mind, that in Indonesia gas is subsidized. The government is trying to reduce that, although they weren't successful with that idea yet. Just the mentioning of it brings regularly hundred thousands of people protesting to the streets.

They raised last week some rare premium gas (pertamax) though, but the majority of vehicles runs here with the standard mix, which is really that cheap! Rock Out

Cheers,
Chris

Update: I added some requested toiletries and "Waxing" costs, as well adjusted the exchange rates (for 19/03/2008: 1 USD=Rp9,254.09, 1 EURO=Rp14,509.47)

Cool

Eppyboy - Twice 1.73USD a gallon? I wish, I'm paying £1.10 a litre at the moment in the UK. Thats 7.81USD for your US gallon, or 9.59USB for my gallon.

Oh and I drive a BMW M3 so its not great on fuel.
