I'd like to check out this island nation as part of a RTW trip. Can anyone give me an idea of daily cost in US$?
I figure about a week there would be a nice break in the action.
Thanks!

In Tobago I spent about $30 a day for a guest house, food, transportation etc. Then, of course, a small fortune diving...

$30 a day? That's great.
Did you ever go over to Margarita Island (part of Venezuela).
My girl and I were there for a month. I rented a condo in the main city of Porlamar for $750 a month (~$25/day) but with food and taxis to the beach a few times a week I spent way more than $30 a day.
I changed a total of us$700 into Ven. Bolivars and spent it all in that month. With snorkeling & a jeep tour we spent about $1,650 ~$53 a day.
We flew to T&T to get back home to Miami but didn't spend any time there.
Did you like T&T, the people, the conditions, scenery?

why is transportation so expensive in this area? Was that public transportation or renting a car?
I learned one of their largest exports was gas so I would figure that would be the cheap part.
We're looking to add it to our RTW as well but I was wondering what the cost is w/ transportation as well. We were going to start there in Trinidad and hop all the way up to Jamaica/Cuba, etc.
Thanks!
