We haven't had one of these in a while: Who's the odd man out and why?

A) Japan
B) Australia
C) the Netherlands
D) El Salvador
E) Venezuela

Nothing about a "major strike," but strikes do have something to do with it (just not in the labor sense).

You're in the ballpark, but the Netherlands does have professional baseball; they call it honkball.

This relates to something that started about four years ago.

Reviving this from a while ago...

Is it El Salvador as all the others took part in the World Baseball Classic in 2006 and 2009?

Thankyou very much!

OK then...which is the odd one out from these five countries and why (for the reason I'm thinking of!)?:

1. Saudi Arabia
2. Bolivia
3. Philippines
4. Liberia
5. Colombia

I'll strike the obvious off the list first.

3. Philippines: as the others end in 'ia' :)

Liberia as it's the only one without its own currency?

Liberia is the odd one out by my reasoning, but not for that reason...so perhaps a single DING for that!

It is name related...

Liberia is the only one whose name is derived from an abstract noun. Also, it's the only one not named after someone.

DING DING DING!

The reason I was going for was that Liberia is the only one not named after someone. Instead Liberia's capital city is named after a person - Monrovia being named after James Monroe, an early US President. The country is named for it being a settlement for freed slaves.

The other countries are all named after people - Bolivia (Simon Bolivar), Saudi Arabia (Muhammad bin Saud), Philippines (Philip II of Spain), Colombia (Christopher Columbus).

Over to you...
