I sold everything and totally loved the feeling of liberation. I am about 3 months into my who knows how long journey and its great to not have anything to hold me back or make me look behind. You can check out my blog if you want to see what I've been up to. I know that when (if) I go back I'll be fine. I hope you enjoy you trip!

I actually sold all my furniture and then moved the rest of my stuff up north. it wasn't too much of a problem getting the furniture sold I just placed in on craigslist and got hits right away. Only thing I had problems with was selling my car (which is still for sale by the way).

YESSSS! Material possessions aren't exactly necessary anymore when you're always on the go...No need for a car. When I do go back home and need to get around on my own, I ride my little bike. Eliminates the costs of gas and auto insurance. I mean other than that you don't really need much to travel. I just kept my camera. got rid of the apartment. I read several personal finance forums and they had an infographic of how most people allocate their expenses and traveling wasn't even budgeted into the picture. Glad that's not my case.

I moved to South Korea to teach and put all my stuff in storage. Now that my contract is up, I am going home to sell everything. Most of it I don't need anyway. I figure with all of that sold I will be able to save more money. It's mostly from the savings of not having to pay for storage. Plus I don't have any plans of returning home for a few years. I already sold my car.
