I know from first hand experience that BA is a very dog friendly city (one of the many reasons we fell in love with it). We are planning a move there in the next 6 months or so and will be taking our dog Flaca with us.
We want to know if dogs are allowed on buses and subways and in taxis. We currently live in Costa Rica and while the dogs aren't allowed on buses (that I know of), most any taxi will pick you up.
Our dog is about 20 kilos (42 lbs ish. . .) and is very well behaved.
Also, what about apartment rentals? Do you see any problems with dog friendly rentals? If you know of any, please let us know.
Thanks so much. . I am sure I will have a million more questions, but this is a great start for us.

Dogs are very common in the streets of South Am cities, but not very much as pets, or in a different way. I never saw anyone with a dog on a bus or subte in BA.
You might check by sending an email to Argentinian bus companies like Andesmar, or ViaBariloche.

I'd have to disagree with Moniak.
I saw lots of "pet" dogs. Most of the time they were being walked by one of those people who walk dogs professionally and had 8-10 dogs at once.
I also never saw a dog on the bus or on the subway system.
I'm sure that some of the taxi drivers will allow dogs. You just might get rejected every now and then and have to wait for another one.
We spent 5 months in BsAs and rented several apts from BYTArgentina.com. They took good care of us.
