Dream Diary

Postby Papaya » November 30th, 2008

Does anyone keep a dream diary? Whether away or at home? Have you ever written anything based on a dream?

Just curious. Smile I have the most bizarre dreams in the morning, and always wake up thinking they would make great books.

A lot of my fiction is based on an idea from a dream. The sooner after the dream I write the story down, the more surreal it seems to be. The John Thing (Midnight Lullabies), The Hush Booth (Flash Fantastic) and the Exquisite Taste of Agony (Glimmer Train Short-Short finalist, still looking for a home) are some stories that are stongly influenced by a dream. Usually, there's one central image or theme from the dream that really stays with me, and I build the rest of the story around it.
