Hey all,
Beginning September 5th, I will be traveling through Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia for four months. I'm flying into Quito, and will start the journey there. I'm just looking for ideas on places to go, and things to do. I'm not so much into sight seeing (churches, museums, ruins, etc..), and am really looking for a less touristy experience. I haven't done a whole lot of research, except for country regulations (visas, vaccines, transportation, etc..) and will probably not do a whole lot more because I really am drawn to the idea of getting there and not knowing what I am going to exactly do. Anyways, I'm going to list some of the ideas I have written down, maybe you could comment on them or recommend some more ideas. Thanks!
Ecuador
Cuenca, Vilcabamaba, Quilatoa Loop, Misahualli
Peru
Huaraz, Cuzco, Huacachina, Huascaran NP, Huayhuash trek
Bolivia
-I've got nothing really, its about 4.5 months away so not on my mind so much. So I'm really open to suggestions here.
Also does anyone have any experience with Ayahuasca in Peru?
-Austin

Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia for 4 Months, ideas?

Hey Austin,
I am leaving about that same time. I am an RN, going to combine volunteering with exploring. Want to especially see Patagonia. If you get a chance, check out the Iguazu Falls, well worth the trouble.
My travel will mostly be on foot, maybe a bus, camping out and roughing it, let me know if you want to meet up. I'm 37, straight and always looking to make travel buddies.

Go Lakers !!
Bolivia suggestions: You must do worlds most dangerous road bike ride....stay overnight in Corrico and continue to Runnenabue for a 3 day pampa tour. I strongly suggest Salar de Uyuni as well. If you're into serious treking...go to Sorata. It's a cool little laid-back village, but a gateway to some serious hiking/trekking. Tiahuanaco if you're into ruins. Copacabana is well worth a day or 2. And Hazard is absolulely right, Iguazu falls is very doable and i would strongly suggest it. Be careful in Quitos and Ecuador in general, serious pickpocketers there....and very good at it.
Have fun
