Gotta Love the GB |
Is there such thing as a short-term TEFL job? Particularly, something I could do during my summers off (6-8 weeks in July/August)? I'm thinking ahead to option for summer 2009...

Hey Tracy Ann - I think it is possible but you may have to search around a bit to find something where you don't have to pay for it.
www.independentvolunteer.org and volunteersouthamerica.net have lists of local organizations that take volunteers. Obviously that would be unpaid but it could be an interesting way to get involved in a town or way which wouldn't be common to travel in. I do think there are some summer positions in Asia - I've heard of some in China where people pay for placement and some summer camps in Korea (that do pay you). I'd personally be worried about not only the expense of covering my ticket but also the possibility that I wouldn't get paid in the end somehow. But people do these things. Good luck! |

Asia's usually a good place to look for short term jobs, they often pay for airfare as well.

Try TEFLtemp.com - good lists of organizations - short-term employment, short-term volunteering, short-term non-profit work as well.
Short-term TEFL is what they do . . . |
