So, I'm entertaining the thought of teaching english in Prague. I've nver done anything remotely like this and so far it sounds new and exicting to me. The first link I've check out is this:
http://www.tefltemp.com/ I wanted to see if anyone else here has thoughts on the info provided on that website. From this website I found my way to: http://www.teflintl.com/locations01.htm I just wanted to see if anyone has had experiences with this. I'm looking for short term teaching work, about 3 moths. And on the first wbsite: tefltemp.com, it advertised some short term work. Thanks!! __________________________________________ greetings earthling! can someone show me how to get to San Leandro? |

As far as the site - from the links I checked out they are sites that teachers and future teachers do use for finding EFL work. I've worked almost exclusively in Eastern Europe, but I think those sites are not a bad choice for finding work in many countries.
As far as Prague, there are lots of courses there and quite a lot of jobs as well. I actually did a job search a few years ago for the Czech Republic - didn't end up going there - but my impression was that most employers want people for a year. Maybe something shorter will be advertised, I don't know, so don't give up if you've got your hear set on Prague. But definitely check out the job market from a few different sources before investing in a course. Maybe see where you find ads for short term jobs first? I think some do exist but maybe not equally in every country. The message boards at www.eslcafe.com can give you insight into all sorts of angles of EFL. Make cay, not war - Kesmen |

Hi Redleader,
Before "temping" as an English teacher, I would recommend obtaining a TEFL certificate first - not sure if you have one already. I had a great experience with TEFL Worldide Prague (www.teflworldwideprague.com) and they assit you with job placement at the end of the course. If you take a course in Feb/Mar you will be sure to find an employer in Prague that is looking to hire at least through the end of the school year in June. Prague is a great city and the cost of living is roughly 1/3 that of the US or Western Europe, so you will be sure to maximize your income and still have fun while you're teaching here. Plus it's so central to other major cities in Europe, you can take weekend trips with ease! Let me know if you have any more questions! You can reach me at siciliana@gmail.com |

Thanks for the helpful advice. I'm actually thiking of making my move in September. What that "move" is is still up in the air. I've got everything to a RTW trip to TEFL to other volunteer work, to who knows what, on my mind. Right now i'm still researching options and considering what i can and cannot afford.
