I'm planning a year long sojourn overseas - the current 'sketch' is to travel to Canada, America, Britain and Europe and purchase working holiday VISAs for Canada and Britain to fund myself over the year. I'm not sure I'll work in both countries, but that way I have the option if the time comes to move on.

I'm trained as a graphic designer (3yrs experience) but I'm not adverse to the idea of working in other areas as well cos it'd be nice to have a seachange. Has anyone else done something similar? Can you suggest good temping agencies or other avenues to get work? Do I have to buy the Visa before I leave home, or could I organise it while on the road? (obviously, before I reached the country in question!)

You could try and get clients in your home country and then take the work with you overseas. Providing you don't do any business in the country where you are visiting then visas won't be an issue.

Is your type of grpahic design something that could be done over the Internet?

I could potentially design over the internet, but that would require my own laptop with design software wherever I go (which I don't have), and I'm not willing to take that risk as I'll be backpacking for half the time with low security. And I kinda like the idea of working in all sorts of different areas, cos design is giving me the irrits at the moment!

Thanks for your reply though Smile
