Thorn Tree Refugee |
Hey Travel, Ever see a movie called "Revolver" w/ Jason Statham and Andre3000? Not the greatest movie, but it was very insightful about what you're talking about: how deep game runs and how sharp you have to be.
You have to keep your cool about these things. As in the movie, your ego is likely to get involved and complicate things. You may start taking the bullying to heart and acting out. And that'll come back on you. The kind of workplace bullies I'm familiar with are those that hide behind procedure or use the rules to coerce people. They don't physically pick on people, but they abuse ways and means for personal gain at the expense of others. Job I had before this, the woman across from me would use stuff like dress code clauses, or escalate small issues, to either put people in disfavor or inflate her value to the bosses. The worst thing to do is confront the person, without first making your grievance know to your superiors. It sounds like tattling, but it's actually covering your ass . “Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.” |

Lost in Place |
Sad, that's how I found it. So far I have the experience that where ever you go, there's always a twat near by who turns your peace full life in to hell. Even worse they are usually higher in the company's hierarchy then you are - so you can keep your mouth shut and take the abuse or tell him to get the fuck, cose life's too short to play the underdog thing and out there there's plenty full other jobs you can enjoy without to feel like the last piece of shit on the planet.
And also you have to know your self on what level and how far reach your relationships within the company. If not far, the HR won't get bothered with your case that much so the results will be of no use for you. I would approach that person (depends on the circumstances of coarse) face to face in a good way first. If it wouldn't help I would involve the HR. If no change again I would get quite nasty toward that person, then toward the useless HR and leave the next moment after. But I understand it's never that easy as it might sound here and different people prefer different approach. So good luck with solving your issue back there and to all of you who're in the same situation right now. We are same stuff as dreams are made of |
