Ah, yes, so you see how much I long for quitting and how hard it is to think of working for another 5 1/2 months before the trip!

At one year I told everyone that I didn't think I'd make it that long.

Yup Brooke, I think you deserve a huge pat on the back!

My last job which was pseudo-call center like, totally sucked out my soul. I left after 11 months. Despite some of the perks of the job (there were a few). The repetition and complaining customers werent worth it to me.

I'd say the average turn around for my company was 6 months - 2 years MAX- with a year's service being the average. Some of my old co-workers are still with the company and are approaching the two year mark. They have all had it, and will be leaving shortly.

I just hate offices. Period.

I did a year in a call centre. That was long enough, and if I hadn't had the trip at the end to look forward to, I don't think I could have lasted that long.

My company sends out cleaned up radar data to clients all around the country, so when we get the raw data in, every 15 minutes we have to go through the national radar data and 'erase' all the bad data that gets picked up. I'm not sure if it makes any sense, so to give an example...
http://www.weather.gov/radar_tab.php see the areas around the country that are free of any real precipitation, but still have light blue radar echoes? It's either fog, or bugs, or birds or anything that can be picked up. Some sites even pick up nearby mountains which end up looking like a thunderstorm on an otherwise clear day. Every 15 minutes for 8 hours. It gets annoying since that's not the only thing I do, I also have fronts to draw, forecasts to make, etc.

Whatever earns me money to travel!

Here's some repetition: listening to autistic kids recite lines from (insert Disney movie here)all day long. I now know the lines to the majority of the Lion King and WAAAAY too much Barney. In fact one of my kids used to hallucinate Barney and attack people, trying to bite them every time "Barney" came around... however, admittedly, I love them. See? I need a vacation!

I know this is an old post, but I want to share the repetitive-ness of my day:

I work in construction-I'm a painter. All day I paint drywall white. Eight hours a day. When this varies, it's because I'm either spraying it on, or I'm using a brush and a roller. White walls, forty hours a week, with no one to talk to.

I feel like a monkey, and I don't use my brain. The white walls become my canvas of all the exotic places I will go, but at the end of the day, I'm so freakin' depressed because I have to get back on the train and ride back to suburbia.

I've been saying this a lot lately, seems like 15 times a day:

'And what will you do differently the *next* time someone says/does something irritating? I think that you and I can both agree that punching them in the face is probably not the best choice.'

Followed closely by: 'Did you really take all of your medication this morning, before you came to school?'

In my previous job I had to say this to my boss with frightening frequency. Darth Mavis

A really bad day is when I have to ask a teacher that question. Which happens with more regularity than the public might think. Yikes.
