Where's my Cabana boy?

Saw this on MSN this morning:

In their book "Snakes in Suits," Paul Babiak, Ph.D. and Robert D. Hare, Ph.D., explain that a surprising number of workplaces employ psychopaths. While psychopaths make up 1 percent of the general population, Babiak and Hare found that 3.5 percent of the executives they worked with "fit the profile of the psychopath." Psychopathic employees are pathological liars who get away with doing little or no work. They charm senior management with their "leadership potential," con co-workers into covering for them, and successfully blame others for their mistakes.

I have to say though, it explains quite a bit.

Here is a little more infor on the book

Wait a sec....that's me.

Uh oh.

(Just kidding...I do little to no work, but since this is because I'm assigned little to no work, I don't have to blame anyone for it)

This kind of meshes well with the central thesis of The Corporation which was that coporations are by definition psychopathic.

totally agree with this. Work has less to do w/ actual working and more to do w/ how people perceive you. It's just a big, foolish game.

OMG this is my last boss! He fits the description perfectly. Good thing he doesn't work there anymore. His suicide threats for attention were wearing thin.

We do research on workplace and leadership at work, and leadership styles that are approved, and networking are more impt than final products, it seems.

I can't help but wonder if the corporate environment tends to attract more of the psychopaths, or if the toxic environment turns previously sane people into psychopaths.....

I think it allows them to flourish.
