Knows What a Schengen Visa Is

So there is a new guy at my office. He just got back from spending a year in Japan. At first I was really excited to have a fellow traveler in the office! But, then I realized that he is a complete tool. Now, that he has been to Japan, he is apparently the end all be all of international travel.

Ugh! I am soooo disappointed!

I just wanted to vent.

I know someone like that too. She told me what to expect in the Cayman islands last year when I went, even though she's never been. And right now she's telling me all about London, again, never having been there (I have)

What a couple of douchebags

I spent a month in Thailand. No one knows more about adventure and travel than me. What would you like to know?

during a brief discussion with a 23 year old girl in Jacksonville, Florida a few years ago, she mentioned she "loved travel and loved to get out and see places" -- after a few brief questions I learned she'd never been out of the state of Florida.

It appears there is some serious relativity in what people consider "well traveled..."

NTFTuna,

What kind would you be?

Screwdriver?
Vice?
Hammer & nail?
WD40 and metal insertion?
Vaseline and splintery wooden shaft?

Ha! Tool is one of my favorite names to call people. Doesn't it seem like tools can only be guys though? Like I can't imagine calling a girl that. Dunno why.

I was at a little Chinese restaurant the other day and this fat white lady at the table next to me was practically Yelling about her recent trip to China and you couldn't believe the typical ugly American crap coming out of her mouth. She was talking so loud that EVERYONE could hear her. And of course she struck up a conversation with the waiter about how she just came back from his homeland (of course she's the only person in the world to travel to China, right?)

ugh. so annoying.

I have a friend (well, actually, had....if he only tries to get in touch when he's not currently "with girlfriend," I don't think that qualifies as a friend...) that still, to this day, always refers back to the one year he spent living/working in Australia. That was his defining moment, the symbol of him actually "doing something" that somehow made coming back to corporate life and being afraid to even switch to something he liked better for fear of losing his enormous paycheck all right and livable for years afterwards.

It drives me nuts....as someone who realizes each day is a lesson, progress towards the next step, on the way to the next adventure, etc. This guy evidently filled his need to feel like he's "done something" or been special, in this one experience and though he talked about it still being part of him and continuing to travel, he's never done so. He's one of those long weekend vacationers now...

Justine-

That reminds me of those folks who's pride in life was playing on the high school football team. Kinda like Al Bundy and the 4 touchdowns in one game Smile

Or who say that 16-18 was the best years of their life. I dunno about you guys, but there is no way in hell I would want to be 16 again! I'm much happier at 30 than I was 15, hell, even 5 years ago. It only gets better with age baby Razz

I'm with you there, Chris. It keeps getting better every year, just knowing what we do about life, the world, and especially about ourselves. How could it have been that fun then before you even know what you want yet or all there is on offer?? Smile
