My plan was to stay in work until next June and then set off on my RTW. However, my work situation has changed and it looks like my contract will be up by Christmas.

I now have to weigh up whether to work until June 2006 (therefore spending a little less on airfare, but probably struggling to get regular work/pay rent, etc) or to say b*llox to it and go in January instead (with less money and more expensive airfares, but leaving earlier!).

What should I do? Be my conscience Bootnallers! Help me!
Confused

I'd say see if you can line up employment, if you can have something lined up in advance, then work a few more months so you can do everything you want to do on your trip. But if you can't line something up, then leave sooner rather than later.

If you end up with a gap in employment, you could end up worse off than having just left early, since paying all the usual expenses for even a month could mean spending several months of hard work building up your savings again.

That's exactly what I'm worried might happen 2wanderers. By Christmas with any luck I should have about £5,000 (about $8,750 U.S.) - going from UK - Thailand - overland to Singapore - Sydney - overland to Cains - NZ - Fiji - Cook Islands - LA - overland to NY - UK. First time travelling, no idea how long this will last me for, or if its enough.

All my planning was going pretty well until now too. Frown
Sorry, just starting to get a little worried that's all. It's a total pain in the ass when you hate the job your in to begin with, and then you find out you gotta look for another one sooner than you thought.

I agree with 2wanderers.

Apart from that, I have to thank you for the thread title, because now I am bouncing around in my seat, singing that song.
