and i think i might get an offer. now this job would allow much higher chance of travel to europe and possibly mexico, but i still have to stay in this shithole detroit area where nothing cool on new ever happens. i guess i can stay here and save up money and pay off all my bills and then re-evaluate....but that means i will be over 30 and at a shitty age to just quit and leave.

so i feel like i will be stuck here forever Frown and i kick so much ass at interviews that those people never knew i really just want more money and then to quit Smile

i dont know why i post this but i am confused about something. reality+sensibility+dreams=confusion

Crazy

I know lots of people that age who have taken off. Why not? Unless you have responsibilities holding you home, at 30 you may finally have enough money saved to really do your trip right!

Congrats on the interview! And potential new job.

Yeah when I got back from my four month trip around Europe I was so depressed to be on job interviews. And now I have two part-time jobs, which I need to find a full-time one so I get some adult benefits sort of things...and it just sucks. Because no one even cares about my traveling, or asks questions. It's just a world of work, work, work, and it makes me SICK!

Prioritize if you can, and save money, work an extra job. Thirty isn't so far away, and keep working; maybe you can leave at 29!

30 is the same as dead. There is nothing good that happens once you are 30.

got sucked into the auto industry and its difficult to find jobs in other industries that will pay as decent.

well i just talked to my current boss and it looks like i will get a pretty nice raise which means i have little incentive to take the new job. i think i will stay where i am and pay off my bills and then save up for a nice big trip in a year or so Smile

I also "got sucked into the auto industry" in the Detroit area for 6 years and quit my job for a RTW trip that was initially one year but turned into two years.

I'm out of the auto industry now, getting paid much less and even living in San Francisco, but I'm much, much happier than I ever was in Detroit.

Once I decided to leave, it took me 6 months to save and plan everything.

All I can say is chase your dreams.
Life's too short and unpredictable to do otherwise.

I hope that was sarcasm above, because I know SEVERAL people who dropped everything and took off when they were *gasp* over 30. That's such an arbitrary and silly landmark to set in your life, especially for guys who don't have to worry about baby makin. Shoot.

no, it's true - life ends at thirty -- all rocking chairs, drooling and pudding after that -- sez so right here. -

oh wait, that post says life is BEST after 30 -- I must agree HeHe

Mes, you're in a tough spot, no kidding around there. Life ain't fair and we can't all be is a position to travel at the same time. There are plenty of people who bloom a little later and don't get around to traveling until their 30s -- and I argue it can be better -- go read Salmo's post (link above) - should inspire you --
