It totally sucks doesn't it?
I started back at my Temp Job yesterday and it just completely sucks to be back at work when you know that the majority of the Country get the whole week off!! The trains were empty, there were hardly any cars on the road...which is great for getting into work but it just reminds me that I'm the only one doing it!! Hardly anyone in the Office, which means I can surf the Net and not get caught..LoL...although still have to be careful of course!! So, is anyone else working this week? And doesn't it just feel like a Monday morning every morning this week? |

Oh yes, I am working. It sucks. Few bosses are around, though mine is. The phones have quieted down and I am finally able to get some work done.

I'm sort of working. I don't really have the time off and I have the daily stupid chores this week (they get assigned to someone new each week) so I have to come in but have very little to do when I'm here. My experiment went in the crapper and it'll bee well into next week before I start again so I sit here, do my chores, make sure everyone sees I showed up and then I leave for the day. Yesterday I went home early to help my friend move into a new apartment.

Well, we have off Christmas and the day after. I have already sworn to myself that I am saving 3 PTO (pad-time-off) days next year for this week. It is dead quiet! No phones ringing, no emails. Just plenty of time to browse on here and plan some trips for '07!!! And, getting paid for it.

I'm here and very few other people are here. It's nice and quiet.

I quit one job Dec 22 and start a new one Jan 3. Just call me "lucky" - I certainly didn't plan it this way. This naturally means I'll work Christmas and New Years in 2007.

Yep, I am here too. Happily, the phones are quiet. Unhappily, that means I'm learning a whole new task while things are quiet and that translates into more work for me on an ongoing basis

I am working from home.
I was in the office yesterday, and did what I needed to get done. I'll do a little something today, but being in the office would be counter-productive. |

Yeah, I'm working too (obviously, not at the moment!). I'm saving the vacation days for the shoulder seasons when other people are at school and work. Then there will be no kids on the plane and no harried parents...

I guess by the fact that I am at work right now qualifies for me "being at work" but there is absolutely nothing going on here... phones are dead quiet emails are non existent and bosses are away!
Hardly pays for us to even be open but god forbid they would just want to give their employees some extra time off |

I wish I were working between Christmas and New Year's! I've been working as a tutor and it's "Christmas break" now, so no work for me. And the temp agency doesn't have anything for me right now... shucks. And I'm leaving for Italy in 2 1/2 weeks.

I'm excited to be getting this time off without using up a precious vacation day! Woohooo!

Well I suppose I should be grateful that it's now Friday and things are deadly quiet here...No meetings to go to or people to see...
And yes, it does mean that I don't have to use up any vacation days...which is great cause I don't think I have many left!! LoL |

I was here on the 26th. Yep. Yep.
Everyone is taking vacation. Currently, there are maybe 8 or 10 people in my entire office--and we normally have about 60. |

I am in a job that takes 2 weeks off this time o' year.
But, in years past, this was the best time to be at work! Free use of the copy machine. Great internet connection. I could make the coffee just how I liked it! Play my internet radio at whatever volume seemed good. I did some of my finest work when no one else was around! One year I made the most awesome stationery - cut and glued and xeroxed and man did it look fantastic. This was also the time that I burned half of my cd collection for friends using my office computer as well as making color copies of the cd insert booklets, cutting and pasting those for a really cool pro-look. I say, while everyone else is away, take care of the real work. Your creative work! _____________________________________________________________ 'We're going to pack our toothbrushes. That's one of the big differences in social work: your clients don't go on vacation over the holidays. I had three days of intensive overtime (25th and 26 th were national holidays) and just finished off my bookkeeping for the year today too. But at least now I get a three-day weekend.

I really like working the period between Christmas and NY's since there are hardly any others around.

I just came across this and thought I'd throw in my depressive "the weather never stops" rant about how we don't get off on holidays as meteorologists. I actually ate my Thanksgiving dinner at Denny's before heading into work at 10pm that night. Argh...
