Wee fols I have 39 dyas until I'm on a four week vactation to Brazil!! I can't wait.

I so tired of people looking at me funny when I say I'll be gone for a month...

"I could never take off for that long...."
"Why are you using all of your vacation time for a trip?"
etc., etc.,

I work for an american company and it's rare for people in the US to get 4 weeks off with pay (especially with 3 yrs time). I'm just sad that people in this company don't take advantage of this opportunity.

With the chicken flu thingy it may not be possible to travel internationally in the future.

Sorry for the rant Smile

Congrats to you!

I quit my old job to travel, and so many people there were miserable, and were like, "You're an inspiration! I could never do what you're doing" and "It's my dream to go there." Why not save up and go instead of envying me?

I'm going to go back there this week and it will be interesting to see what they say.

I know how you feel. People dont understand when you tell them about how you traveled or want to travel for extended periods of time. They think you are lazy, dont want to face the real world.. etc. The first time I ventured out solo I couldnt believe how many Europeans/Austrailians/Asians travel for long periods of time. And its accepted and normal, especially as a gap year. I guess I didnt realize I had been the typical, strong-minded American who focuses on work only, (In my case, colleg straight after high school, being an over achiever in other ways etc.) which is exactly the OPPOSITE of what I want to be. I dont want to live to work, I want to work to live.
So to you, I say congrats! and have a great trip. Its ok if they dont understand because you do.
