Sort of. I was more leaning towards travel agents, airline attendants, etc. You know, people who get paid?

I interviewed for a stewardess position but I don't think I made much of an impression. Ultimately, I guess it's not for me but the up side to the job is you go everywhere and get amazing discounts. I'd never say never, though it's not easy work. But I don't think it's going to happen.

It is entirely possible to carve your own opening in the travel industry and start some sort of micro-business.

I am on my way to starting a small Internet based company that works with adventure travel companies in promotion. I still have a long way to go but I am finding the whole thing more satisfying than working as a corporate slave.

I've been working as a travel agent for about a month, in retail sales. What kind of questions do you have?

Stephen - I was in your position about 9 months ago (that is, the position of wondering what to do for work in the travel industry), but the longer I am at my current job, the more I'm discovering there are lots of jobs in the travel industry... just depends what you want to do. I work for a non-profit in the tourism industry at the moment, and I'm hoping to get over to the tour-operator side of things next year, so I'm becoming quickly acquainted with some of the big names and types of jobs out there. PM me if you want to chat more Smile
