Some people work to live, others live to work... but what about you? When it comes to your job, do you like a "fun" workplace, or are you not too bothered? If a job couldn't be considered fun, are there other things that make up for it?

you have to love your job!! i am only a lowly waitress, but i still love what i do. i meet all kinds of people, some great... some not so great. my last job wasn't so bad either. i was the office girl for a beverage company, which meant gourmet coffee all day long. my desk was parked right beneath the office dart board. we had a pingpong table in the warehouse, and i got to wear my jeans and adidas. if it isn't fun, it better damn well pay REALLY good... enough to support you once you quit to look for a fun job.

I have been doing my current job for only a couple of months, but I really, really like it. I work as a framing designer -- that is, people bring in things to be custom framed, and I help them design the best look with mats, frames, fillets, etc.
My job allows me to be creative and use my background in graphic design. What I enjoy most is seeing the direct effect my ideas and suggestions have on transforming a piece of artwork -- how the customer's eyes light up when they see the completed frame job for the first time. It is very rewarding. The kinds of things people bring in are varied and interesting, and give you a glimpse into their lives. A older couple brought in an enlarged photo he had taken at the Great Wall of China. I heard all about their other travels to places like Morocco and Brazil. Another customer had an autographed photo of himself shaking hands with boxer Mike Tyson. And one lady brought in some prints she had gotten at a yard sale that dated back to the 18th century!! My schedule is flexible, I get to wear casual clothes, and my colleagues are great. The only thing I would change is the pay. It's crap. But I actually look forward to going to work each day, so that's a good sign! |

If you love your job you will never have a hard time going to work and always feel your day has been well spent. Working a job that you hate isn't going to lead you to happiness, only temporary economic advancement.
I knew of a man who worked in a busy office and hated it. His plan was to have $250,000 by the time he retired ( he did back in 1980 ). He hated his job so much that he would have nightmares about it, but kept it for 40 years so he wouldn't lose his benefits. That's a great plan for a miserable life. He got his money, but in retirement had parts of him fall off at regular occassions. He's not around anymore, but at least his relatives won't have to sweat themselves |

i work at a health food store mostly with homeopathic meds and herbs.. i worked for years as a graphic artist but realized i was really sick of it. my job lets me take anytime of i need (w.o pay of course) and lets me learn alot while i am there. which, come sin handy when ya get sick traveling and you can for the most part treat yourself. (latin names to planets & herbs are pretty universal)
i think my "boss" summed it up best by saying "we a pretty creative company" |

I love working, plain and simple as if I did not work what else would I do. Life would be pretty boring if I did not have a reason to get up in the morning to go somewhere. It gives me a sense of accomplishment as well.
I can say all that cause I chose a trade that interests me. I am a heavy truck collision mechanic. I am also a full-time camper as well, so what I did about four years ago was to combine the two. Dumped my apartment and sold all my furniture and the like and bought a older fifth wheel trailer. Moved into that, and now have the trailer at my work for the winter months and the summer months I spend travelling and camping. Never too far from work, within driving distance. I live in Ontario Canada, so during the winter months some careful preparations have to be made to sustain rv living, but I am quite comfortable. Future plans are for me to travel and work all over North America, what better way to meet people than to be working somewhere with coworkers. Great job on the website here, I just joined today Col |

Campercol, you might want to check out this website:
Canadian Working Campers - Job board for "working campers" or for businesses who need temporary employees who can provide their own accomodation. You might find something useful there! Cheers, |
