Hi! Okay, a friend and I are going to the University of London this fall with a study abroad program from our school. We are flying into London about a month and a week early with 3 other girls so that we can get over to Europe and do the Eurorail/youth hostel thing before school starts. So here are my questions... First, which is the most cost efficient way to get out of England and into Europe. I have been there before and we took the chunnel, but I am not sure what the price was on that. Second, We really want to experience Greece and I was wondering what was the best way to do that since the closest we will be to it will be Italy or Austria. Is there some sort of ferry or something that goes from Italy to Greece? If so, is it reasonably priced for poor college students? Third, I would love to take a video camera around with me through all my travels, but I'm not sure if that is the best idea. Are the chances of it getting ruined due to weather or other forces, or the risk of it getting ripped off too much to take? Okay, I think that's it, but any other general advice would be great too! Thanks!

That depends on where you're trying to go! If it's France or Belgium I'd suggest the ferry and bus, but for somewhere further afield like Rome or Vienna a no-frills airline might be cheaper. STA and Campus have info on student travel (nice cheap deals), but the airlines do a lot of their stuff online - www.easyjet.com, www.go-fly.com, www.ryanair.com etc

I know there's a ferry but no idea how much, sorry. If you have an Interrail or Eurrail pass for that zone the cost should be covered already though.

The weather isn't that bad in Europe, honest, esp around the Med wink As for security, that depends a fair bit on how you carry it and where you leave it (if anywhere) I guess - take care and you shouldn't have too much hassle.

Hope you have a great trip!!

You can catch a ferry from Italy to Greece (usually from Brindisi) and it should be covered by your Eurail pass. Make sure you have the right one.

Have an awesome trip
