For some reason, interacting with kids in other countries can be a heck of a lot more fun than doing the same thing at home (at least for me). Why is that? Is it because the language barrier puts you on equal footing? Is it because kids in many other countries are wearing identical (and adorable) school uniforms? Is it because kids haven't yet adopted the fears or biases of their parents with regard to foreigners? Whatever the reason, many of us have pictures of children from our travels. Nick posted this funny one from Bali - the prim and proper school clothes juxtaposed with the hand gestures are particularly amusing...
So do you have pictures of kids from your travels to share? |

Two young Mongolian kids out on their evening chores getting water from the lake. The young boy would carry two 10 liter jugs (around 40 lbs) while his sister would sit on her tiny, little 2 liter or so water containers and wait for him. After making it about 50 meters the boy would put down his containers and then walk back to his sister. Then he would grab 2 more 10 liter jugs, his sister would grab her 2 little jugs and they would walk off the 50 meters together. This process would be repeated probably a dozen times before getting the water back to their home. |

en route to Luang Prabang down the Mekong. I guess the kids just don't get tired of making fun of the stupid tourists in crowded unconfortable boats. children's day at a village near Chiang Mai. folks from the guesthouse I was in were sponsoring this and we spent our last trekking day there with them. I took osme baloons to the kids and they were a hit. at some point I couldn't tell if they were playing with them or fighting over them. |

I've not seen cayce's pictures of kids before, but I'm loving the one of the kid with the Spanish book. Just priceless.

Jessie, you should try and convince Cayce of letting you in her Flickr page. Awesome pictures there!
I sent submited quite a few pics to WhyGO back in its early days, but the thing is my pictures are not digital and when they're scanned they have that peculiar texture. I could send you some more anyway if you tell me to Tiemen, I love your pictures, yo udo know what to do with that camera in your hands, don't you! (btw excelent crop in the third picture) |
