I wish Maryland had a cool way of saying hello...
"Hi" My name is Kurt and I am from the Baltimore/Washington area. I recently joined Bootsnall to learn more about my upcoming trip to Kilimanjaro. After 27 years of being brainwashed that Maryland offers just about anything... I decided to agree to fly across the world and attempt to summit Kili. I love to camp, mountain bike, fish, and triathlons so if I can offer any advise on these subjects, please don't hesitate to ask. If any of you out there have some pointers on what I am about to experience, please let me know! Thanks! Kurt |

Hey everyone,
I'm Kelly, 27, from Australia. I'm a vet by trade and am looking to take at least 12 months off work from March 09, to travel through Asia. I hope to incorporate some charity vet work while I'm away, but can't wait to take some time off to see the world! I'm obviously still in the planning stages of the trip, and have already found lots of great tips on here. Cheers, kelly |

Hi Kelly,
You mentioned charity vet work. Does your work includes any vaccine. My family and I is living in Chiangrai, northern Thailand. Apparently some felines here developed some kind of flu. Not an epidemic proportion though. Any advice? Sorry BootsnAll to digress from the travel forum. |

Lost in Place |
Hi everyone!
I'm Anna, almost 18 years old, from the U.S. In 2 months, I'm departing on a RTW gap year. My trip will bring me through China, SE Asia, Australia, Africa, and Europe. I will be travelling solo except for the first country I'll be visiting- China (with my brother)- and the 5 weeks I'll spend volunteering at a girl's school in Tanzania in early 2009. I'm extremely excited about my trip! ___________________________________ "I get lost in the beauty Of everything I see The world ain’t as half as bad As they paint it to be" |

Howdy! (sorry, I live in Texas and that's how you say hello!). My name is Rich Cook, aka Rich The Writer Guy. I'm a freelance writer currently based in Houston.
I was born in Kenya and lived there (except for a couple furloughs) until I was 13. Then we moved to Kentucky (my Mom's family is from KY). Now I live in Texas. I've also lived in the US Virgin Islands - specifically St. Croix. That was an interesting experience! Travel, for me, is life. I get tired when I can't explore something or some place. I've traveled throughout Africa (as a kid, I'm dying to go back), Europe (France, England, Netherlands, Ireland). Although most of my writing these days is business to business marketing copywriting, I'm using that to fund my travels and give me the freedom to explore my world. Ultimately, I want to visit every country on earth. According to an application on Facebook where you can list all the places you've visited or lived, I've covered 12% of the earth. Not a bad start but a LONG way to travel. See ya'll out there! |

Howdy Ya'll!
I'm from Georgia, but live in Texas - so that's my hybrid greeting! Joined up about a year ago, when I first dreamed up my big European adventure. Now that we're less than two months from leaving, figured it's time to start posting and get the blog going. I love travel for the sake of travel. Experiencing new cultures and just being someplace different are the only criteria! I've travelled lots, but my list pales in comparison to others. I'm getting my son off to a great start, though! We're headed to Europe in June and can't wait to post all about it. It's a first for both of us. I look forward to sharing and learning! Cheers |

Hey everyone.
I’m Alexa, live in California and am planning to leave January ’09 for a trip around the world. In between now and then I am working on saving money, planning out the trip logistics, and getting married (my soon to be husband will be joining me on the trip). I have been reading the message boards for a while now and have gathered a lot of great information. Can’t wait to participate a little more now. |

Hola!
My name's Amanda and I'm a high school Spanish teacher in Colorado. After four years of living the "responsible" life, I'm off to meet up with my kiwi boyfriend in Bali June 5th! Then we're heading back to Perth, cottesloe beach, where he's living now. He's working a fly in/out job at a maganese mine outside of Perth. I'll be looking to get work there as well (on my working holiday visa?) That's if the Antarctica thing doesn't pan out. I've had a phone interview for a job (dining attendant) at the McMurdo base and pretty sure the lady wants to hire me. We'll see. The hard part is for both my kiwi and I to get jobs. He's applied at the Scott base of course. We'll see... I first started this wandering addiction with a standard generic tour of Western Europe in 98 (one month) Then I lived in southern Spain for a year in college, was the best time of my life! I explored Morocco, Germany, Czech rep, Holland, Greece. Then I went back to finish my degree and immediately got a job teaching English in Paraguay where I lived and taught. Then I backpacked around Brazil, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina. Coming back to the US was tough, but I had to get a j-o-b. Now after four years of teaching full time and working a bar job part time, I've finished my master's and paid off debt and I'm gone indefinitely in about six weeks! The plan is after working Antarctica/Australia to go into Asia...Thailand, Cambodia, then over to India and Nepal (base camp trek?) Then over to Africa, travel down the East coast. We've got a couple contacts to do some volunteering. Then we'll end up back in South America (home away from home) get some more work, travel more. Maybe end up ultimately in Alaska where I can get paid big bucks to teach in some remote town and my boyfriend can finish writing his book. Ah dreaming is nice, eh? Cheers DOING is a quantum leap from IMAGINING |

Hi there! (sorry, Midwest...) So I am from St. Louis, MO, and now I live in Omaha, NE. So you might already understand why I have an urge to get out and travel! Anywho, I haven't done much traveling besides all over the U.S., and parts of Mexico, Carribbean, basically only North America. And I seriously want to start! So anyways, I am in school in Omaha, so as I begin this membership I am planning a trip over the summer to Africa. I have freinds in great places all over the world and its about time to go see them. I want an adventure. Hope to get help here. Thanks! Workin' on changing from a dreamer to a doer.

G'day fellow travelers from around the globe. My name is William Passfield and I live in northern NSW Australia. I'm heading off to New York for a 3 month visit with friends. This is my first trip there, although I visited the west coast about 12 years ago, I didn't get to see as much as I'd hoped. But the highlight of that visit was meeting my pen pal of 20 something years who happened to be getting married at the time, and so I attended her wedding in Santa Barbara - that was a real hoot!! I dearly wanted to see NY then, but as things go, ran out of money etc etc... So now the opportunity has come where I've made some new friends living there and they've invited me to come stay with them. I'm really excited about going there. Any tips on cheap quality eateries would be appreciated, and and "getting about the city" tips would be most welcome! Cheers!

Hi Folk, Here is my Travel story Mid Summer 2005 First Nations Keith Ranville set out from his Vancouver home to investigate a at the time a Oak Island's diminishing place of interest. But a new Oak Island beginning emerged through Keith's traveling research studies a simple unencrypted solution was generated to resolve this 213 year-old elaborate treasure mystery. Hello all!
My name is Asis, 39 y.o. female and I live in the Bronx. I grew up on Long Island (NY) and I can't wait to travel the world! I've never traveled out of the states before and I've been thinking about traveling for some time now. I'm so grateful I found this site! I'm learning so much from you all here and I'm taking notes and hoping to start my RTW sometime in August. I'll be traveling solo but I'll be taking advantage of the Small Group Adventure trips listed here and maybe on another site. I'm so psyched by all of your stories here and again, it's very helpful. Thank you for creating this place and I hope to give more feedback soon. Muah! |

Hi,
My name is Carole. My husband and I are deliriously happy retirees, living in an RV since 2001, traveling US and Canada. I grew up in the middle of Iowa and had no exposure to travel at all, but it seems to just be in my blood (my Grandaddy was a wanderer). During our working career, we traveled around the US and made several trips to Europe, and in 2006 spent 2 months in Italy and Germany. One week from today, we leave on a transatlantic repositioning cruise to Barcelona and will return in November, when the cruise line brings the ship back to the states for the winter. We will visit Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Croatia. Croatia is a new addition to the itinerary, and we will be spending almost 2 months there, so will be asking lots of questions. Thanks in advance for all your help!! |

I'm an expat living and working in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I am a freelance writer and also teach ESL at a local after-school program for disadvantaged children.
I write a lot about my teaching experiences on my blog, ESL Monkey (eslmonkey.blogspot.com) and also about living in Mexico at www.thegirlwonder.com. I love living in Mexico but I'll probably only be here for a couple more years before I head south! |

Hi everyone!
I'm Kathryn -- originally from Ohio and going to school at Boston University. Unlike most of you, my upcoming trip isn't for quite a while (as in 2011!), but I'm starting to think about my RTW now, and I can't wait Right not, I'm planning to travel for a year heading west from Australia and New Zealand to Thailand, China, Nepal, India, Lebanon, Tanzania, South Africa, Brazil, Chile, and Ecuador, spending about a month exploring each country. No doubt these plans will change in the time before I leave...I'll definitely be on here with questions from time to time! |

Hi all, my name is Karon, I am a 29 year old Kiwi living in Oz with my wife and 5 month old daughter. Having traveled throughout NZ and the East Coast of Australia I am now looking to travel with my family from South East Asia through to Europe, leaving in June '08, and arriving in Poland in time for Christmas.
We aim to spend a few years out of our comfort zone in Europe somewhere, just where we do not know I will be looking for advice and guidance, and look forward to reciprocating when on the road! |

So, my name is Bjørn, which is Norwegian for "Bear", hence my patented bear smiley #8D). Yeah, I know. It doesn't really look like a bear, but it's trying to. Really.
I registered because the forums here seemed to be a happening place, and I'm always eager to share information about travel. In the last ten years or so I have visited some 60 countries, and I'm likely to keep adding to that, traveling a few months every year. I don't really have a favourite place of any kind, but I could write books about all the places I have very much enjoyed visiting. And about the others as well. Actually, I have done exactly that. If you want to download a free copy of my travel book One for the Road, go ahead and help yourself. It's getting good reviews, so chances are you'll like it. It's about Patagonia/Antarctica, Southern Africa and a month on and along the Trans-Siberian Railway. I can give the book away for free because in addition to travel writing and photography, I make a good living from computer programming. I'm a lot more likely to enjoy discussing travel bugs than programming bugs, though. Oh, and I collect travel sickness bags. Wanna trade? Happy trails, Bjørn |

Hi everyone,
My name is Nicola. I'm a 28 year old New Zealander and I live on the Gold Coast (Australia) with my French husband and 2 children. We are toying with the idea of doing a RTW trip with our kids, before we move back to France indefinitely. |
