By chance found an AMAZING agent rate to Costa Rica for my bday the other day and after much ado....BAM! Today I have a ticket number and those stomach butterflies that only upcoming travel brings out.

Now I only have 51 more days to endure my mother's "i don't want you traveling alone", "something might happen to you" and my all-time favorite "don't come crying to me when you don't have any more money to get back home with". I swear....you get stranded in the outback with a negative balance once and you can never live it down!

We're currently in a mall in Manila. We're trying to make reservations for a guesthouse up the coast. We're on skype, and it's very loud here, so it's not going to well.

It's not easy when everyone here calm to speak English, but in reality they don't - boo!

Plus, a coffee grinder is now going off.

The woman on the phone seems to be making Alex go through each room in turn before he tells us that room is booked.

Boo!

Just got my ticket to Beijing for two weeks. First time in Asia, first time I need a visa, and first time I'll be in a country that I don't already speak the language. Should be a good bit of fun.

Just confirmed my ticket to Egypt and then Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa leaving April 27 and returning August 21. It's my first trip longer than 3 weeks, and I'm insanely excited but also a wee bit nervous!

Woohoo! I just booked my flight to Italy! Two years ago I was in Italy, & I loved it, but it was more like a blitz trip - rushing here & there, taking photos & off to the next town I go...I never really got the chance to take my time & savor each place.

This time, I was able to get 3 weeks off (most of it is unpaid time off - but I don't care!), so I'll be doing some backpacking around the hilltowns, a few days in Florence, traveling north to the lakes, checking out Venice, & then ending it with a flight to Amsterdam to visit a friend & then a few nights in Paris.

Now all I have to do is take (& PASS) "Packing Light 101!"

Jen

Give it up for a YEE-HAW!!! I just got my Visa post!

This means, among many other things, I won't have to make runs to the U.S. border every six months. Yes!

It also means that in the eys of the Mexican government, I will be retired. I plan on doing as little as possible to indicate otherwise. Smile

Switzerland, for late March. Plenty of warmer destinations around, I'm sure, but couldn't pass up a really decent fare.
